Although the old adage of “love at first sight” might prove increasingly rare in modern days…apparently it does still hold true. Just ask Auburn native Jordan Whitley and her new husband, Torrey Hall. The young couple met by chance one crisp autumn night, when Jordan, an Emmy-winning sports anchor, dined among friends at a fabulous, oceanfront restaurant in Cardiff, California. There, she happened to meet a handsome chef, Torrey, and the two were immediately taken with one another.

After an intense courtship, the groom, originally from Kona, Hawaii, proposed on the cliffs overlooking that same California beach where they spent their first date. Considering the couple’s shared affinity for the water, Alys Beach proved a natural choice of venue for the big day.

Desiring to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests, the weekend commenced with a sunset bonfire on the shore of Alys Beach. Guests were then treated to beef tenderloin sliders, lovingly prepared by the groom himself, and later enjoyed S’mores around the fire.

The  October 14th ceremony followed in a forest clearing called Central Park. There, the bride stunned in an ivory lace Romona Keveza dress. Gracefully, she made her way down the aisle to a string quartet softly playing “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” in honor of her late grandmother, whose favorite artist was Elvis, all captured by photographer Dear WesleyAnn.

The black tie affair was overall quite ethereal in tone and tenure, but also incorporated elements of the unexpected. Under the stars, guests dined at long farmhouse-style tables awash in candlelight as moonlight poured through the over-hanging tree branches.  Lively dancing followed, and guests gushed at the custom space created by Carly Hubbard of Nouveau 30A, in collaboration with the bride’s mother.

As the evening drew to a close, guests lined up with over-sized sparklers in hand along the cobblestone walkway. The couple departed in a vintage Jeepster and headed toward The Havana Club, where the celebration continued until early morning.

The pair recently moved their family back to Auburn as Jordan began work with the Atlanta Falcons and Torrey builds his catering and restaurant ventures. They wish to thank all that made their celebration so special!

Dedication: The couple would like to dedicate this story to William Owen Bohler, whose life and love have been like the clear northern star to all who knew and loved him.
